Quick summary: Thin grinding disc from the PSF FLEX line, 100 x 3.0 x 16 mm (4 x 1/8 x 5/8 inch), grit 36. For both steel and stainless steel (STEEL+INOX). Maximum speed 15,300 r/min, compliant with EN 12413.
1. General information
- The PFERD FD 100-3 36 PSF FLEX STEELOX disc is designed for light grinding, edge work, weld seam finishing and surface cleaning on carbon steel and stainless steel (INOX). The label states STEEL+INOX: one disc covers both materials.
- The PSF line is rated ★★☆☆ on PFERD's 4-star scale. This FLEX disc is only 3.0 mm thick, much thinner than a standard depressed centre grinding wheel (6.3 mm).
- The wheel complies with the European safety standard EN 12413 and with USA ANSI B7.1 / OSHA regulations.
2. Benefits
2.1 Benefits for the plant
- One wheel for both steel and stainless steel. A single item covers two materials. The plant stocks fewer SKUs, the store issues tools faster, and operators no longer pick the wrong wheel for the steel or stainless steel area.
- Calculate cost per job, not per wheel. DAVITA recommends a trial run that compares how many wheels are used on the same length of weld seam. This is the most accurate way to measure real cost.
- Clear safety documentation. The EN 12413 and ANSI B7.1 markings printed on the wheel give the HSE department a basis to approve the consumable and help meet customer or project owner requirements during plant audits.
- Complete documents. Each delivery comes with an invoice, certificate of origin (CO), certificate of quality (CQ) and user manual. These meet the requirements of project files, audits and purchasing procedures.
- Reliable supply from an authorised distributor. DAVITA restocks regularly and delivers fast, so the plant can keep its consumables inventory low.
2.2 Benefits for operators
- No need to stop and change wheels when switching materials. The wheel grinds both carbon steel and stainless steel. On structures that combine both materials, operators keep grinding with one wheel without stopping the machine to change it.
- 3 mm thin disc for light grinding and weld seam finishing. The thin disc suits light grinding, edge work and weld seam finishing on thin parts, where a 6 mm grinding wheel can cut in too deep.
- Peace of mind at work. The wheel meets EN 12413 safety requirements. Combined with a wheel guard and proper personal protective equipment, operators work more safely.
- Compact, fits common 100 mm angle grinders. The 16 mm bore fits the 100 mm angle grinders widely used in workshops; small, light machines that are easy to handle in tight spots.

4. Choosing the right 100 mm wheel
| Wheel type | Best for |
| E 100-6 PSF STEELOX – 100 x 6.3 x 16 mm (EIDV05885) | Rough grinding, weld seams, high stock removal |
| FD 100-3 PSF FLEX STEELOX – 100 x 3.0 x 16 mm (this item) | Light grinding, edge work, weld seam finishing on thin parts |

5. Typical applications and usage notes
5.1 Applications
- Light grinding and weld seam finishing on thin parts, frames, handrails and stainless tubes.
- Edge work and deburring after cutting.
- Surface cleaning and rust removal; mechanical maintenance in plants.
5.2 Usage notes
- Use only on machines rated no higher than 15,300 r/min.
- Never mount the wheel on a machine whose speed exceeds the maximum speed on the label – for example, do not fit a larger wheel on a smaller machine.
- Always use the machine's wheel guard. Wear eye or face protection, a dust mask, ear protection and gloves, as shown by the pictograms on the label.
- Hold the wheel at about 15°–30° to the surface. Do not use the grinding wheel for cutting.
- Before mounting, check that the wheel is free of cracks and chips, and is not damp or oily. Run it without load for about 30 seconds.
- Store in a dry place. Use the wheel before the expiry date stamped on the metal ring at the bore (EXP marking).
