The Enerpac FA1TMSTD is a compact flange alignment tool set used to correct lateral and rotational (twist) misalignment between two flanges, bringing the bolt holes into line so the bolts can be inserted. It is used during new pipework construction and during maintenance.
The FA1TMSTD is fully mechanical: the operator simply turns the crank handle, with no hydraulic pump, electricity or compressed air required. The tool weighs 2.1 kg and can be carried and operated by one person, even at remote sites or in hard-to-reach locations.
- Corrects flange misalignment quickly and safely, without an external power source
- Suitable for most ANSI, API, BS and DIN flanges
- Reduces set-up time: no need for chains, pulleys or rigs
- Ratchet strap holds the tool securely on the pipe
- Can be installed and used in any position; stays stable under full load
2.1 Benefits for each customer group
| Customer group | Common pain points | How the FA1TMSTD helps |
| Pipework installation contractors | Flange bolt holes out of line so bolts cannot be inserted; crowbars, chain hoists and pulling chains are needed, costing manpower and rigging time; schedules slip easily. | One person places the tool in a bolt hole and turns the crank to align the joint; no chains, pulleys or rigs needed; at 2.1 kg it is easy to carry around site. |
| Plant maintenance teams (planned maintenance and shutdowns) | Short shutdown windows; opened joints often spring out of alignment on reassembly; tight or elevated locations, or no electricity or compressed air available. | No external power source required; can be installed and used in any position; the ratchet strap holds the tool firmly on the pipe. |
| Safety officers (HSE) | Aligning flanges with crowbars or improvised levers risks slipping, pinched hands and impact injuries. | Aligning force is applied in a controlled way through the crank, up to 1 metric ton (10 kN); the tool is strapped in place and stays stable under full load. |
| Purchasing and materials engineering | The old ATM2 is discontinued and the correct replacement is hard to identify; risk of buying products of unknown origin. | The FA1TMSTD is the official replacement for the ATM2; DAVITA is the authorised Enerpac representative in Vietnam, providing full invoices and certificates and advice on choosing the right FA-Series size. |
3. Product overview
3.1 Standard kit contents
- 1 x FA1TMSTD flange alignment tool
- 1 x mini ratchet strap
- 1 x instruction manual
3.2 Main components
Cover plate, body frame, driven wedge, lift hook, crank handle, release knob, drop leg and ratchet strap.
3.3 Quick operating guide
- Loosen and remove every second bolt around the flange to find the point of maximum misalignment.
- Fully insert the lift hook into the bolt hole of the lower flange at the point of maximum misalignment.
- Slacken the release knob and lower the drop leg onto the pipe so the tool sits level and parallel to the pipe; then tighten the knob.
- Thread the strap through the drop leg, around the pipe, and lock it tight.
- Turn the crank handle clockwise so the driven wedge pushes against the opposite flange and brings the joint into alignment.
- Insert and tighten the remaining bolts, remove the tool, then fit the last bolt in the hole where the tool was located.
3.4 Safety and maintenance notes
- Use hand force only on the crank handle; do not extend the handle.
- Take care not to drop any parts when removing the tool from the flange joint.
- Visually inspect the tool before use, storage or transport; wipe clean with a damp cloth.
- Keep wedges, pins and legs free of grit; grease moving parts with a high-load grease such as Rocol Sapphire Hi-Load or equivalent.
- Use genuine replacement parts only.

4.2 Frequently asked questions
Does the FA1TMSTD need a hydraulic pump?
No. The tool is operated entirely by hand crank.
Can the old ATM2 still be ordered?
The ATM2 was discontinued on 1 June 2024; the FA1TMSTD is its official replacement.
Which model for flanges thicker than 82 mm or larger bolt holes?
See the FA4TMSTD or FA9TESTD in the table above, or contact DAVITA for advice based on your flange standard and pressure class.
