Supply: available stock in Vietnam with full invoice, Genuine SKF product and complete certificates
2. General information:
A double row full complement cylindrical roller bearing holds the maximum number of rollers, so it carries very heavy radial loads at moderate speeds. Thanks to three ribs on the two-piece inner ring and one central rib on the outer ring, the NNF design locates the shaft in both axial directions. The two snap ring grooves in the outer ring simplify mounting and save axial space. The bearing can also be supplied on request with a special bore and/or outside diameter to suit reworked shafts and housings.
- Accommodates very heavy radial loads
- High radial rigidity
- Long service life
- Locates the shaft axially in both directions
- Sealed for higher reliability, with a relubrication feature

5. Reading the designation NNF 5032 ADA-2LSV and choosing the right variant
5.1 What NNF 5032 ADA-2LSV tells you
An SKF designation is read from left to right; each group of characters carries its own meaning:
| Characters | Meaning |
| NN | DOUBLE row cylindrical roller bearing |
| F | SKF design code for the double row full complement range with a two-piece inner ring and snap ring grooves in the outer ring |
| 50 | Dimension series of the NNF range |
| 32 | Bore code. From code 04 upwards, multiply by 5 to obtain the bore diameter: 32 × 5 = 160 mm |
| ADA | Internal design code. In the DAVITA range the smaller sizes (5004 – 5015) use the ADB suffix and sizes from 5018 upwards use ADA |
| 2LS | Contact seals on BOTH sides of the bearing |
| V | FULL COMPLEMENT bearing — no cage |
In summary: an SKF double row full complement cylindrical roller bearing, 160 mm cylindrical bore, 240 mm outside diameter, 109 mm wide, with contact seals on both sides and greased at the factory.
5.2 What 'no cage' means — benefits and drawbacks
A conventional bearing has a cage that keeps the rollers evenly spaced. The NNF range removes the cage and packs the free space with rollers, so it holds far more of them. This cuts both ways:
| Benefits | Drawbacks |
| Very high radial capacity: C = 781 kN and C₀ = 1 400 kN in a bearing only 240 mm in outside diameter | Speed is limited to 500 r/min — the rollers rub directly against one another, generating heat and wear at higher speeds |
| High radial rigidity, minimal shaft deflection under load | Higher friction; operating temperature and relubrication intervals need attention |
| Compact design: high capacity without increasing the bearing size | A minimum radial load must be maintained (factor kr = 0.4) so that the rollers roll instead of sliding |
Common selection error: using an NNF in place of a caged cylindrical roller bearing in a high-speed application. If the operating speed exceeds 500 r/min this designation is unsuitable no matter how much load capacity is left over — switch to a caged range.
5.3 Axial location and snap rings — what sets the NNF design apart
A conventional cylindrical roller bearing (NU, N) lets the shaft float axially. The NNF range is different: the inner ring is made of two halves with three ribs, and the outer ring has one central rib. The rollers are trapped between these ribs, so the bearinglocates the shaft in both directions without needing an additional thrust bearing.
To be clear: this is location, not working axial load capacity. The ribs simply hold the shaft in position and take a light axial load. If the application has a significant working axial load, a separate thrust bearing must be provided.
The two snap ring grooves on the outer ring surface secure the bearing in the housing without a shoulder or a flanged cover, saving axial space:
| Specification | Value | Relevance when machining the housing |
| D3 | 236 mm | Root diameter of the outer ring snap ring groove |
| b | 5.2 mm | Snap ring groove width |
| C1 | 95.2 mm | Distance between the two snap ring grooves |
| C2 | 6.4 mm | Distance from the outer ring side face to the snap ring groove |
| Ca1 | 89 mm | Abutment when using the Seeger SW 240 circlip |
| Ca2 | 85 mm | Abutment when using the DIN 471 240x5 circlip |
| da | min. 167 mm | Diameter of the shaft shoulder supporting the inner ring — must not be smaller than this value |
| ra | max. 2 mm | Maximum fillet radius of the shaft shoulder |
5.4 Other NNF sizes available from DAVITA
The table below lists the other sizes in the NNF range; the dimensions are taken from the specification page of each designation:
| Designation | Dimensions d × D × B (mm) | Design |
| NNF 5004 ADB-2LSV | 20 × 42 × 30 | ADB — smaller sizes |
| NNF 5008 ADB-2LSV | 40 × 68 × 38 | ADB — smaller sizes |
| NNF 5015 ADB-2LSV | 75 × 115 × 54 | ADB — smaller sizes |
| NNF 5022 ADA-2LSV | 110 × 170 × 80 | ADA — larger sizes |
| NNF 5024 ADA-2LSV | 120 × 180 × 80 | ADA — larger sizes |
| NNF 5028 ADA-2LSV | 140 × 210 × 95 | ADA — larger sizes |
| NNF 5032 ADA-2LSV — the item you are viewing | 160 × 240 × 109 | ADA — larger sizes |
| NNF 5048 ADA-2LSV | 240 × 360 × 160 | ADA — larger sizes |
When substituting: every designation in the NNF range is full complement, sealed on both sides and locates the shaft in both directions. Do not replace an NNF with an NU/N cylindrical roller bearing of the same bore — the two differ both in axial location capability and in permissible load.
6. Typical applications and quick selection guide
NNF 5032 ADA-2LSV is selected when the requirement is very heavy radial load at low to moderate speeds, in restricted axial space and in dirty environments:
- Heavy-duty industrial gear reducers and planetary gears — supporting gears under heavy meshing forces; the seals retain the grease and keep metal debris in the gearbox oil out of the bearing
- Rollers, wheels and heavily loaded idlers — mine conveyors, overhead cranes, forklifts, guide rollers; roller speeds are inherently low, so the 500 r/min limit is not a constraint
- Rolling mills, presses and crushers — heavy shock loads requiring high radial rigidity
- Construction and mining equipment — sealed as standard, so it withstands dust and water splash, and can be relubricated in the field during routine maintenance
- Turntables and slow-speed slewing drives — where both high radial capacity and two-directional axial location are needed in a single bearing
6.1 Quick selection by operating condition
| Operating condition | Conclusion |
| Very heavy radial load at speeds ≤ 500 r/min | CORRECT choice — this is the design operating range of NNF 5032 ADA-2LSV |
| Speed above 500 r/min | DO NOT use this designation. Switch to a caged cylindrical roller bearing and accept the lower load rating |
| Significant working axial load | DO NOT use this designation alone to carry axial load. The ribs only locate the shaft; a separate thrust bearing must be provided |
| Very light radial load, long periods running unloaded | NEEDS REVIEW. A full complement bearing requires a minimum radial load (kr = 0.4) so that the rollers roll instead of sliding |
| Dusty or damp environment with water splash | SUITABLE — contact seals on both sides, greased at the factory |
| Restricted axial space where a shoulder cannot be machined | SUITABLE — use the snap ring grooves in the outer ring with SW 240 or DIN 471 240x5 |
| High operating temperature requiring oil lubrication | NEEDS REVIEW — this designation is sealed and grease lubricated. Contact the DAVITA technical team to choose the unsealed version |
7. Mounting and maintenance
7.1 Preparing the shaft and housing
- The diameter of the shaft shoulder supporting the inner ring must be not smaller than da = min. 167 mm; the fillet radius of the shaft shoulder not larger than ra = max. 2 mm, otherwise the bearing seats on the fillet instead of the abutment face
- The maximum shaft shoulder abutment per the catalogue is das = 186 mm
- Machine the two snap ring grooves in the housing to D3 = 236 mm, b = 5.2 mm, with a groove spacing C1 = 95.2 mm
- If the housing has a grease hole, align it with the lubrication groove b1 = 8.12 mm and the hole K = 4 mm in the outer ring
7.2 Mounting the bearing
- Two-piece inner ring — keep the matched pair of halves belonging to the same bearing; never interchange them between bearings, even of the same designation
- Never strike the bearing directly. Apply the mounting force through the ring that has the interference fit: press on the inner ring when mounting on the shaft, on the outer ring when mounting into the housing
- Heat mounting the inner ring with an induction heater, not above 120 °C because the bearing already has seals and grease. Never use an open flame
- Fit the Seeger SW 240 or DIN 471 240x5 circlip into the groove and check that it is fully seated before test running
- A full complement bearing has no cage to retain the rollers — when the inner ring is pulled out of the outer ring the rollers can fall out. Work on a clean flat surface
7.3 Lubrication and maintenance
- No initial greasing required. The bearing is greased and sealed on both sides at the SKF factory
- Unlike the 2Z and 2RSH series: this 2LSV designation can be relubricated. When the grease reaches the end of its life, inject fresh grease through the K = 4 mm hole in the outer ring while the bearing turns slowly
- The relubrication interval depends on speed, temperature and how clean the environment is. Under heavy load and in dusty conditions the interval is far shorter than theory suggests
- Maintain the minimum radial load. The minimum load factor given in the SKF catalogue is kr = 0.4. Running unloaded for long periods makes the rollers slide on the raceway and causes early spalling
- Monitor the housing temperature. A sudden rise usually indicates insufficient grease, overload or an incorrect fit
Speed warning: the limiting speed of this designation is only 500 r/min. That is a limit of the full complement construction, not of the grease or the seals — running faster generates heat quickly and destroys the bearing even at low load.
8. Equivalent designations from other manufacturers
The base number of the double row full complement cylindrical roller bearing range follows ISO, so the mounting dimensions are shared across makers, but the range code and suffixes differ from one maker to another:
| Manufacturer | Equivalent designations for size 160 mm × 240 mm × 109 mm | Remarks |
| SKF | NNF 5032 ADA-2LSV | The item you are viewing — NNF range, seals on both sides, full complement |
| INA / FAG (Schaeffler) | SL04 32 PP | The SL04 range is a double row full complement cylindrical roller bearing with snap ring grooves; the PP suffix means seals on both sides |
| Other manufacturers | Contact us the DAVITA technical team | Must be checked against the drawing and the actual operating conditions before substituting |
Note: an equivalent designation matches only the mounting dimensions and the location arrangement. The number of rollers, the roller end profile, the seal material, the factory grease, the actual clearance and the service life differ between makers. In a full complement range in particular, differences in roller count and machining accuracy directly affect the permissible load — check against the actual operating conditions before substituting. 9.1 Frequently asked questions
| Question | Answer |
| Can this bearing carry axial load? | Yes, but only for location. Three ribs on the two-piece inner ring and one central rib on the outer ring hold the shaft in position in both directions and take a light axial load. If the application has a significant working axial load, a separate thrust bearing must be provided. |
| Why is the limiting speed only 500 r/min when the load rating is so high? | Because the bearing has no cage. The rollers are packed together and rub directly against one another as they turn, generating heat and wear. In return, the greater number of rollers gives a radial capacity of C = 781 kN and C₀ = 1 400 kN — well above a caged bearing of the same size. |
| Is the 2LSV version pre-greased, and does it need relubrication? | Greased and sealed on both sides at the SKF factory, so no initial greasing is required. But unlike the 2Z and 2RSH series, this designation can be relubricated: a K = 4 mm hole and a b1 = 8.12 mm groove in the outer ring. When the grease reaches the end of its life, inject fresh grease through this hole. |
| What is the difference between ADA and ADB? | These are two internal design codes within the same NNF range. In the DAVITA range the smaller sizes from 5004 to 5015 use the ADB suffix and sizes from 5018 upwards use ADA. Both are full complement, with a two-piece inner ring, contact seals on both sides, and can be relubricated. For a detailed comparison of a specific size, contact the DAVITA technical team. |
| Is the SW 240 or DIN 471 240x5 circlip mandatory? | Not mandatory, but the two snap ring grooves in the outer ring are exactly what makes the NNF range useful: they secure the bearing without a shoulder or a flanged cover, saving axial space. If the housing already has a shoulder, no circlip is needed. Note the different abutments: Ca1 = 89 mm for SW, Ca2 = 85 mm for DIN 471. |
| Can it be dismounted and refitted? | Yes, but with care. A full complement bearing has no cage to retain the rollers, so they can fall out when the inner ring is withdrawn from the outer ring. The inner ring also consists of two halves, which must be kept as the matched pair belonging to the same bearing and never interchanged between bearings. |
| How do I know the goods are genuine? | DAVITA is an Authorised SKF Distributor in Vietnam, issuing VAT invoices with genuine goods and complete certificates. A genuine SKF box carries a QR code and an anti-counterfeit label that can be checked instantly in the SKF Authenticate app. |
